I love Kirsten Lamb's Blog! http://warriorwriters.wordpress.com/2012/01/02/2012-and-planning-for-success-in-the-new-year/
She talks about Crappy Excuse Trolls and Procrastination Pixies! Oh, how well do I know those creatures!
Kirsten Lamb is a writer, as I am a writer. This blog is mainly for writers, but to be honest, this blog is for anyone who needs to become a motivation machine for themselves! Read the blog, and tell me you don't feel a little motivation! I do.
I made a goal for myself for 2012. It came about because of a writer on the yahoo group I joined last week. I've never felt a need to do New Year Resolutions, I felt they were a set up for failure. I hate to fail. So, I'm just putting a New Year's goal in place. Resolutions feel so normal, as everyone makes them, hardly anyone keeps them. Goals, on the other hand, and I realize this is just a different word that means the same thing . . . Goals set can be taken in small steps and reached.
Goal 1: I am going to write at least 1000 words on one of my books that I intend to finish in 2012! That sounds like a whole lot, but I checked it out, and a page is over 400 words, at least for me, so that means at least 3 pages a day, 5 days a week. I can do that. But you know what? I find that when I begin writing, it grows into more. More what? Well, just more. I can't stop writing once I get started. The words just start to flow on the page. Like what I'm doing right here. I hadn't meant to make this my blog! Oops! But I'm not going to apologize. It's what I do!
Goal 2: I just put this one on the page today. I'm going to spend 1-2 hours every day, 5 days a week, and read what other authors have to say. Like with Kirsten's blog, I have read and taken to heart what she had to say! Honest! If Kirsten doesn't object - I'm not going to ask her - I'm going to print out her blog and pin it to my cork board next to my computer. I'm going to keep it handy where I can read it often. But there are many others who are just as enlightening. I need to read! Writing is what I do, reading is what I need to do! Isn't that what we did in school to learn? Isn't that how we still learn?
Okay, I have but one mouth and 2 ears. I should listen twice as much as I talk. But I have 10 digits that I use on this keyboard. See you all later!
